How to Apply in Taiwan as a Foreign English Teacher or English Assistant Teacher
“If you want to apply abroad, make sure to organize your documents now!”
Before You Apply
Make sure your school is included and accredited by the Ministry of Education (MOE) Taiwan.

Check if your school is in the list:
STEP 1: PREPARE YOUR DOCUMENTS
1.1 Major Requirements
1.1.1 CAV (TOR and Diploma)
- Ask your school about their process for getting CAV.
- Use your highest degree (a master’s or PhD is an advantage).
- Do NOT open the sealed envelope.
1.1.2 PRC License
- Request license ID authentication through LERIS (around ₱70).
- Prepare:
- One photocopy of your license ID (A4 recommended)
- Documentary stamp
- Procedures may vary, so check your local PRC office.
1.1.3 NBI Clearance
- Book an appointment at the nearest NBI branch.
- Wait for the release of your NBI Clearance for Abroad.
After completing the three major documents, book an appointment with:
DFA → then TECO (Taipei Economic and Cultural Office)

1.2 Basic Requirements for Applying
Prepare the following:
- Passport
- Resume
- Demo video
- Introduction video
- Cover letter or Statement of Purpose
- Certificate of Employment
- Other supporting documents

STEP 2: LOOK FOR AGENCIES AND APPLY

STEP 3: VISA APPLICATION

- For FET → Work Permit
- For FETA → Ministry of Labor Permit
Visa Requirements
✔️ Passport & photocopy
✔️ Application form
(Choose “Sign up via agent,” not “Myself.”)
✔️ Two 1.5” x 2” photos
✔️ Original & photocopy of Work Permit (colored)
✔️ PSA Birth Certificate original & photocopy (with QR code)
✔️ Marriage Certificate original & photocopy (if married)
✔️ Authorization letter
✔️ TECO-authenticated NBI (original & photocopy)
STEP 4: AFTER SECURING A SCHOOL — PROCESSYOUR DOCUMENTS IN THE PHILIPPINES

a. Register on DMW e-Registration
b. Upload all required files for Phase 1 and proceed to Phase 2.
Update: Check information about the OFW Pass.
