How to Paste and Use Wordwall Activities in Canva (Simple Guide)
Using Wordwall activities inside Canva is a fun and effective way to make your lesson more interactive. Teachers can combine presentations and games in one place. This helps students stay focused and participate more during the lesson.
Instead of switching between many tabs, teachers can show their presentation and activities in one place. This works very well when using a smart board or projector in the classroom.
Below are the simple steps on how to paste and use Wordwall activities in Canva.
Step 1: Open Canva and Design Your Presentation
First, open your Canva account and create a new presentation. You can choose the Presentation (16:9) format or any format you prefer.
Start designing your slides. You can add text, pictures, instructions, or lesson objectives. For example, if you are teaching vocabulary, you can create slides that show the new words and their meanings.
After explaining the lesson, you can add a Wordwall activity so students can practice what they learned. This makes the lesson more engaging and interactive.
Step 2: Go to Wordwall and Prepare Your Activity
Next, open Wordwall.net in another browser tab and log in to your account.
Create or choose the activity you want to use in your class. Wordwall offers many activity templates such as:
- Matching
- Quiz
- Random Wheel
- Open the Box
- Maze Chase
- True or False
Select the template that fits your lesson objective. For example, matching activities are great for vocabulary practice, while quizzes are useful for reviewing lessons.
Step 3: Copy the Wordwall Activity Link
Once your activity is ready, copy the activity link.
You can do this in two ways:
- Copy the link from the browser address bar.
- Click the Share button in Wordwall and copy the link provided.
Both links will work. Just make sure the link opens the activity directly.
Step 4: Go Back to Canva
Return to your Canva presentation and choose the slide where you want the Wordwall activity to appear.
This slide will be the part of the lesson where students will interact with the game.
Step 5: Paste the Wordwall Link in Canva
Simply paste the Wordwall activity link into your Canva slide.
Canva will automatically turn the link into an embedded or clickable activity. When you present the slide, you can open the activity directly and let students play.
This makes the lesson smoother because you do not need to open a new browser tab during your presentation.
Step 6: Present and Play the Activity
When your presentation is ready, click the Present button in Canva.
When you reach the slide with the Wordwall activity, open it and let students interact with the game.
If you are using a smart board, students can come to the board and play the activity themselves.
Things to Remember
1. You can add many activities in one slide.
Teachers can be creative by adding multiple Wordwall links in one slide. This allows students to play several review games in one part of the lesson.
2. A smart board works best.
Using a smart board makes the activity more interactive because students can touch the screen and move objects easily.
3. Dragging objects can be challenging.
Some Wordwall activities require dragging objects, such as matching or sorting games. When many students try to play at the same time, it can be difficult to drag items on one screen.
Teachers can create simple rules to manage the activity better.
- Students take turns playing.
- Students play by teams.
- The class discusses the answer before moving the object.
4. Team games work well.
If you only have one screen, divide the class into teams. Each team can discuss the answer, and one student will go to the board to move the object.
This encourages teamwork and communication.
5. Always test the activity before class.
Before using the activity in your lesson, test the link to make sure it works properly inside Canva or your presentation.
